In this semester I have made a project with my classmate ShuNing Li, the project is about sharing our cooking experienced to people who are interested with cooking. We think that it is really important to learn how to cook by yourself because you can cooked some dishes to tht person you love/care to get closer with him/her. Me and ShuNing were really interested with cooking so we decide to do this project together and also made a YouTube channel. We would like to share our cooking tutorial to introduce some traditional food from China and also some classic dishes which are easy to make.

The reason for why I choose to create a YouTube channel is because I spend lots of time on differents video apps such as YouTube/TikTok, I think it is really interesting to make video by yourself instead of watching other people’s video. I also want to interact with my audiences and I will be really excited if someone feels enjoyable during waching my video even if there’s only a few of them.

After I made some videos I find out that it is not easy to get feedback or comment on YouTube because the platform is so big and it is hard to find my target audience. Luckily, I got lots of responses on Reddit / WeiBo and I really enjoy to communicate with people from different countries who also love to cook. These responses are also my biggest motivation when I was editing video, it also gave lots of power to ShuNing.

However, after we finished this project in this semester there are still lots of things that we can improve on for our future plan. Firstly, we chose the wrong platform at the early stage of the project and we were realize this problem too late. We didn’t get any comments/feedback when we have already made 3 videos, I would share my video on Reddit /TikTok for the next time if I still have chance to make video project.

According to what I have learned from Attention economy, TikTok is a perfect product from attention economy and it is also one of the app which attract young people’s attention for the most. TikTok might be the best option for me becuase nowadays millions of people would spend so much time on it and I can also borrow some idea from the video which is popular on TikTok.

During the process of become a YouTuber for a whole semester, I did understand that to become a YouTuber is definitely way harder than I thought. You will need to spend lots of time to think about which kind of video you should make for your channel and you will also need a nice camera for the quality of the video. Editing skill is also one of the most important skill if you want to become a YouTuber, in the future I will try to improve my editing skill as much as I can. I believe it will be a really useful skill for my future career.
