BCM 112#Algorithmic control I: Intellectual Property and the Content Control Industry

This week we have learned about copyright.Nowadays, most of the contents that we have seen on Internet owned their copyright. The video we watched, the game we played and also the software we have used.

Copyright is the exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material.https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+copyright&oq=what+is+copyright&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.2174j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

If people want to cover an artist’s song and post on social media, they have to get the artist’s permission and also tagging “COVER XXX:artist name”.

However, with the existence of copyright. It is really hard for people to create new idea because everything was protected by copyright, and nothing is “original” anymore. If people want to create something, they have to see other people’s work for reference then make a some changes and become their own work.Copyright could make the process harder for creator who want to make something unique and not iterate with the work already exist.
